Florida lawmakers could override tenant bill of rights laws 

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After some cities and counties have passed ordinances about renters’ rights, a Florida House panel on Monday approved a bill that would lead to state law trumping local regulations governing landlords and tenants. 



Opponents say a Florida proposal could enable one person to stop local rules  

Local activists are decrying a bill they say would let one person reverse the work of local communities. The measure requires local governments to conduct business impact estimates for new ordinances and creates an automatic stay if a lawsuit is filed.
