Sarasota County is seeking a skilled and creative professional to join our Communications Department as the Video Production and Engineering Supervisor. About the Position
In this role, you will be responsible for…
Video Production and Engineering Supervisor:
- Collaborate with the Creative Services Manager and supervisors to organize team workload and align with organizational goals.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and performance of the Access Sarasota team, ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to support county objectives.
- Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for Access Sarasota operations.
- Plan and coordinate training to keep the team updated with relevant technology and production techniques.
- Research and recommend cost-effective solutions for video production and photography to leadership.
Video Equipment Operations:
- Operate a variety of audio-visual equipment to produce government access TV content, including meetings and studio/field productions.
- Act as the subject matter expert for all organizational A/V equipment needs.
- Manage A/V inventory, including procurement, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Maintain and troubleshoot audio, lighting, projection, and streaming systems.
- Lead efforts to ensure proper functioning of A/V equipment in control rooms, commission chambers, and related facilities.
Video Production, Graphics, and Effects Design:
- Plan and produce video content and photography to communicate county initiatives, including scripting, set design, and location coordination.
- Collaborate with internal departments to create high-quality video materials that support county goals.
- Create or oversee 2D/3D animation for television programs and video segments.
- Ensure all multimedia content reflects the county’s branding, voice, and tone.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- This position is required to be On Call; as a result, work schedules may vary.
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Videography, Video Production, Mass Communication,or a related field -WITH- 5 years of related work experience.
- -OR- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the above fields -WITH- 4 years (or more) of related work experience.
- -OR- At management discretion, 9+ years of related professional experience may substitute for the required education.
- Valid Florida driver’s license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

- Extensive experience managing government cable access channels and professional A/V or broadcast TV operations.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with proven success in managing teams and coordinating multiple projects.
- Advanced expertise in all phases of video production, engineering, studio operations, lighting, and remote production.
- High proficiency in operating and troubleshooting a wide range of audio-visual and broadcast equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast signal flow and IT-based infrastructure for video routing, encoding, and streaming.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $63,000.00 – $67,000.00
