Salary: $103,371 to $192,549 Annually
Department: Legislative Affairs
Location: 301 N. Olive Avenue, WPB
Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday ; may work occasional weekends and evenings.

Palm Beach County is seeking an experienced, dynamic leader to serve as Director of Legislative Affairs. This executive-level role provides a unique opportunity to help lead public policy and advocate for strategic legislative priorities on behalf of over 1.5 million residents.
Reporting directly to County Administration and working in close coordination with the Board of County Commissioners, the Director will lead and manage the County’s Legislative Affairs program across local, State, and Federal levels. This includes advancing the County’s legislative agenda, fostering strong relationships with elected and appointed officials, and evaluating the potential impact of proposed legislation on County operations and community interests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary liaison between the County and legislative bodies at all jurisdictional levels.
- Represent Palm Beach County’s interests by advocating for favorable legislation and public policy.
- Collaborate with Commissioners and departments to identify and prioritize legislative goals and funding needs.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with legislators, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze legislation and regulatory proposals, providing expert policy analysis and recommendations.
- Respond to legislative inquiries and requests from elected officials, County Administration, and community leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- Master’s Degree in Political Science, Business/Public Administration, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the State or Federal legislative process, or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Business/Public Administration, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the State or Federal legislative process, or
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the State or Federal legislative process.
Highly qualified applicants will possess (must be clearly indicated on application):
- Proven experience in Florida and Washington, D.C., legislative and appropriations processes.
- Deep understanding of the structure and function of Palm Beach County (or similarly structured county) administrative departments.
- Demonstrated success working with local governments and elected officials in Palm Beach County.
