With the Florida Association of Counties’ Policy Committee Conference just six weeks away, the 2014 policy development process is underway. Policy Committee members have been appointed and staff are reviewing past policies and introducing new issues for consideration as a part of the Association’s 2014 legislative platform. From juvenile detention, Medicaid and tax reform to growth management and fertilizer regulation, FAC will be advocating on behalf of its members for home rule, revenue flexibility and the elimination of unfunded mandates leading up to and during the 2014 Legislative Session.
To ensure the FAC advocates are aware of your legislative issues, and to prepare the FAC Policy Committees for discussion and consideration of new and emerging issues affecting Florida’s counties, please submit your legislative proposals to the appropriate FAC advocate by August 30, 2014. Contact information for the FAC legislative staff can be found at: http://www.fl-counties.com/advocacy. A list of the 2013-14 Policy Committee chairs is also available at: http://www.fl-counties.com/about-fac/governance/fac-committees-chairs. We look forward to your participation at the Policy Committee Conference in Palm Beach, September 18-20.
