Hurricane Irma cause the Cooperative Purchasing Program to delay the bid review and award for the 2017-18 vehicles and heavy equipment contracts.  The Florida Association of Counties partners with the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) to provide counties, sheriffs and other local governments with low cost products that have been competitively procured so that purchasing departments can focus on getting the right equipment not the contract process.  The Florida Association of Counties benefits when the county purchases off this contract – reinvesting in the programs that support county government.

Equipment for sale on the contracts can also help counties in the clean-up from Hurricane Irma. These products include backhoes, street sweepers, sewer pumps, as well as products to prepare for the next storm like generators, utility vehicles and passenger vans.  So that counties can have access to these needed items, we have extended the current contract prices until Friday, October 13, when the new contract is awarded.

The committee review process for both contracts for 2017-18 (Police Rated, Administrative, Utility Vehicles, Trucks & Vans; and Cab & Chassis, Trucks & Other Fleet Equipment) will begin on Monday, September 25, and will conclude Friday, September 29.  The final award will be posted at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13.
