Commissioners and other Constitutional Officers are state mandated to take four hours of ethics programming each calendar year. This workshop is open to Commissioners, County Staff and all other Constitutional Officers. Participants who complete this workshop in its entirety will receive 6 core credits toward the CCC Certification as well as fulfill their 2017 Ethics requirement for the state. Since 1996, as part of FAC's Certified County Commissioner (CCC) Program, FAC has offered a comprehensive 6 hour mandatory Ethics, Public Records & Sunshine Law Course. Our existing course meets the requirements addressed in state law.
FAC’s program includes expert speakers from the Attorney General’s Office and the Florida Commission on Ethics to explain Florida’s stringent laws. Participants will learn ethics requirements for elected officials, understand the Sunshine Law and Public Records Law, learn about reporting requirements, and become familiar with the process of an ethics complaint.
This online workshop is open to Commissioners, County Staff and all other Constitutional Officers for $75. Registrants will have a series of three videos to watch and questions to answer after each video. After completion of each of the videos and tests, a Certificate of Completion will be issued for the hours completed. No credits will be issued for using the online workshop to complete the Ethics hours.
In addition to the online option, FAC also offers three Ethics workshops each year as pre- or post-conference events in conjunction with FAC’s Legislative Day (April), Annual (June) and Legislative Conference (November) and credits may be earned by attending a workshop in person.
To register, sign in to the FAC member portal and select the Online Ethics option. Registration for the November 14, 2017 Ethics workshop which will be in Sarasota County will open in September.
