Lake County is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Executive Director of Economic Growth.  This position reports directly to the County Manager and serves as his/her chief economic development administrator. The position has direct oversight of multiple offices/functions including Economic Development, Building, Planning and Zoning, Code Enforcement, and Fairgrounds. Primary focus areas include: (1) implementing marketing and outreach programs to attract, retain and grow business, industry and jobs in Lake County; assessing the needs of the business community, introducing innovative programs and proactive solutions to produce effective economic development results, and establishing policies and programs that aid in the retention, success and expansion of existing businesses; (2) Monitoring the administration of adopted regulatory codes and ordinances pertaining to building and code enforcement; (3) Monitoring the design, implementation, administration and review of County projects and plans to ensure adequate and effective facilitation of County growth and development; (4) Monitoring County policy and strategy decisions and providing feedback to the County Manager regarding the impacts and implications of said decisions of all direct reporting offices on the Lake County economy. The position is responsible for creating, supervising, directing and evaluating all Agency goals, staff and budget.

May be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.


The starting salary for this position is negotiable based on qualifications.   




Minimum Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Land Use or Urban Planning, or a closely related field with ten years of progressively responsible related experience.  Requires a valid Florida Driver’s license.
