We need your help Are you ready to join our leadership team and manage the Park Planning and Development Division? We have $300 million in projects over the next 5 years and need your expertise! This division includes short and long-range park planning, land acquisition, development review, and design, permitting, contractual development and construction management for existing and new parks. In this role you’ll manage and implement the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR) department’s Capital Improvement Program, contribute to policy-making and strategic planning, prepare and oversee budgets, and serve as a resource for other staff, senior managers and the director. Duties: Park Development and Capital Improvement Program: • Manage the PRNR Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and associated fiscal resources. • Collaborate with Capital Projects, Office of Financial Management (OFM), the PRNR management team and other staff to ensure appropriate use and expenditure of funds. • Direct, plan and manage park infrastructure development and renovation to align with community needs and meet planning and regulatory requirements, permits and conditions. • Participate in team design meetings, review and approve proposals that are consistent with construction and maintenance standards, incorporate accessibility, and promote sustainability. • Prepare and provide information to the public, contractors and consultants and serves as PRNR’s primary contact during park project development and implementation. • Participate in procurement process for design consultants, construction companies and other outside contractors for all phases of CIP and other projects. • Direct and evaluate the work of contractors and consultants. Park Planning, Acquisition and Community Engagement: • Lead long-range planning and short-term park planning activities. • Oversee implementation of the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Protection Program (ESLPP) and Neighborhood Parkland Acquisition Program (NPP). • Direct park conceptual plans and research activities. • Participate in County-wide planning efforts and contributes to long-range planning in coordination with Planning and Development Services, including Comprehensive Plan updates, Evaluation and Appraisal Reports, park-related development review, and other planning initiatives. • Assist with ordinances, legislative reviews and amendments. • Prepare and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences, including the Board of County Commissioners, other government agencies, advisory boards, community groups and the general public. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, community groups, boards, other county departments and other government agencies. About You Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in landscape architecture, planning, civil engineering, project management or a closely related field. • Six (6) years of related professional level experience, with four or more years of supervisory experience. • - OR - A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with four (4) or more years related experience. • May consider substituting years of experience for the four-year degree at the Director’s discretion. Preferred Qualifications: • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MA, MBA). • Advanced professional license/certification highly desirable, including American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), landscape architecture, project management.
