GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The essential function of the position with the organization is to perform skilled digital mapping involving data preparation and maintenance of digital maps, for public web based mapping and field maps. This position provides direct support to the GIS department manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Creates, maintains, and updates databases using GIS.
  • Knowledge of Arc Map, Arc Pro, Arc Online, Arc info., Python Scripting, Excel, and work within Arc Enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of cadastral mapping, and running of legal description given on recorded deeds.
  • Assist public with questions regarding any of the functions covered under this position.
  • Work in accordance with appropriate appraisal methods, department procedures and legal provisions governing property assessment. Ensure compliance with policy, laws, and procedures for area of responsibility.
  • Interacts with other staff on matters affecting the functions covered under this position.
  • Able and available to work extended hours and weekend hours, as needed, with little or no advance notice. Regular attendance is required.
  • Proficient use of computer, calculator, fax machine, map machines and multi-line telephone system required.
  • Employees hired on or after February 1, 2016, must be a tobacco-free person, both on and off the job, for at least 1 year immediately preceding application and maintain same tobacco-free status throughout the term of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Information Systems, GIS, or closely related area.
  • Two (2) years GIS experienced preferred.

(Comparable training, education or experience may be substituted for above minimum qualifications).

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to insurance provider.
  • Florida Certified Cadastralist Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, sitting for long periods of time at a computer, lifting and/moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds, acceptable vision (with or without correction), acceptable hearing (with or without correction), ability to answer telephone, communicate effectively and provide information requested.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional travel by vehicle to conferences, training, meetings, etc…
  • Works closely with staff and the public.
