Cape Coral, FL. The City of Cape Coral seeks a Deputy City Attorney in local government law. Under the general direction of the City Attorney, but with a high level of autonomy, the individual will provide a wide range of legal services to the City Council, all City departments, and various boards and committees. The individual may serve as Acting City Attorney when the City Attorney is absent. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, attending meetings of the City Council, boards, and commissions to advise on legal matters; preparing, reviewing, and approving ordinances, resolutions, legal opinions, charter amendments, and other legal documents; providing legal representation as assigned by City Attorney. Experience in land use, public records laws, employment/labor law, contracts, procurement, community redevelopment, real estate, elections, special assessments, or code enforcement is essential. Qualified applicants will possess the following: Member of The Florida Bar in good standing with at least ten years of increasingly responsible experience in a Florida city, county, or other related government entity.
