JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Code Compliance Manager; the Code Compliance Supervisor, performs provides guidance to Code Compliance Officers, performs research, investigative, enforcement and follow-up duties on various code and ordinance violations of Walton County Code and Ordinances and related areas to specified activities under the jurisdictions of the BCC.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.
• Supervises daily activities and operations of Code Compliance Officers as their first line supervisor
• Assists with the review and refines of policies and procedures to ensure a complete code compliance function for the citizens of Walton County and the public
• Issues Notices of Violation, Correction Notices, Notices of Compliance and Non-Compliance to the public and private sectors regarding County ordinances, codes and permitting
• Gathers data and makes recommendations for ordinances pertaining to code compliance
• Maintains a County-issued permit fee schedule for activities that require permits in Walton County
• Informs, negotiates and works with businesses (major resorts, individual beach activity operators, etc.), agencies (DEP, DCA, etc.) and other county departments (TDC, Public Works, Planning, etc.) to assist in maintaining a successful beach activities program and other code compliance activities
• Patrols the beach and other areas of Walton County properties/activities to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, guidelines, procedures, laws, statutes and regulations imposed by the BCC, including the resolution of conflicts that may arise
• Responsible for maintenance of photographs, videos, records or otherwise acquired evidence of violations for presentation as evidence in the judicial process and/or Code Boards
• Prepares and maintains reports and records regarding activities (i.e., case files, trip logs, incident reports, warning tickets, citations, etc.) and files reports on all cases worked
• Communicates with the public through presentations, speaking engagements, notices, etc. about the county and beach ordinances.
• Serves as ambassador for educating and enforcing all Walton County ordinances and/or codes
• Reports code violations and/or beach activity regulations and procedures to the appropriate agency
• Makes both oral and written reports as necessary to the BCC or their designee
• Works in conjunction with other County departments, as well as various state and federal agencies
• Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements
• Performs other work as directed and required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern beach recreational programs
• Knowledge of equipment and facilities required to implement an activities program
• Knowledge of principles and practices of construction and maintenance of public buildings and facilities, real estate/planning/zoning community recreation needs and resources
• Ability to use computers and communication networks
• Ability to make oral and written reports, maintain records and distribute information in an orderly manner
• Ability to read a variety of records, reports, policies and procedures manuals, codes, professional journals, etc., in moderately complex technical terminology
• Ability to successfully communicate with diverse groups of people
• Ability to deal with confrontational situations courteously and calmly and perform under pressure when confronted with emergencies and frequent deadlines
• Ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape; identify degrees of similarity in form; and visually read various forms of information
• Ability to work a varied schedule
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with public officials, peers, other Divisions and departments as well as the general public
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
• Two (2) or more years of experience in code compliance and/ or code enforcement
• Florida Association of Code Enforcement Levels 1 & 2 certifications
• Valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position. Sits or stands long periods of time. Communicates effectively in person or by using telecommunications equipment. Creates documents, reports, etc., using a writing instrument (such as a pencil or pen) or computer. Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight; requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Moves, lifts, carries, and places objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Considerable outdoor work is required. Works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and occasionally is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate to loud. Travel between residential and/or commercial locations to effectively address the business needs of the department

Position will support Street Side Code Compliance and is located at 46 Coastal Centre Blvd, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
