The Florida Association of Counties will convene its annual Legislative Conference during November 28th through November 30th, 2012 in Sarasota County at the Sarasota Hyatt. As a part of this conference, on Thursday, November 29th, 2012 the Finance, Transportation, and Administration policy meeting will be held and staff will present three very important finance and tax issues for discussion. They include:
Tourist Development Taxes
- Staff will be seeking input on policy statements reflecting the impact of current litigation on future anticipated legislation.
- Local Business Taxes
- Staff will be seeking input on policy statements that will mitigate anticipated efforts to repeal this local revenue source
- Communication Services Taxes
- Staff will be seeking policy statements reflecting the evolving environment surrounding the world of telecommunications and technology in general. Staff is also working to arrange for a limited interactive discussion with member representatives of the telecommunications industry
As a member of the Association your input is highly valued and important with regard to developing policy positions and related strategy as we move forward towards the 2013 legislative session in Tallahassee. Your attendance at this year’s legislative conference is encouraged and critical to our future success in advocating for Florida’s counties.
