Flagler County is located on the northeast coast of Florida and is 31 miles south of St. Augustine and 24 miles north of Daytona Beach. Based upon the ‘2020 World Population Review’ Flagler County estimated population is 116,327. Flagler County’s population is distributed among its five municipalities and its unincorporated areas. Those municipalities are Beverly Beach, The City of Bunnell, Flagler Beach, Marineland, and The City of Palm Coast. The Flagler Atlantic Ocean beachfront is 18 miles long with pristine beaches. There are more than 40 parks and preserves, as well as 90+ miles of trails for hiking, biking and paddling. Flagler County is a desirable location for tourists, visitors, residents and businesses alike. The Flagler County Fire Chief performs highly responsible administrative and supervisory work involving the overall management of the Fire/Rescue Department including supervision, deployment, fiscal administration, implementation of fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and emergency medical conditions. Employees in this classification perform in an executive capacity to ensure County welfare and growth is accounted for when developing and implementing departmental goals and objectives.
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years progressive leadership in an executive role.
Requires a minimum of eight (8) years field experience in Fire or Emergency Medical Services with progressive supervisory levels achieved.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration or may substitute with extensive related experience. Must possess a Florida State Certification as a Firefighter II required.
Must possess a Florida State Certification as a Fire Officer IV required.
Must possess a Florida State Certification as a Fire Instructor III required.
Must possess an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification required.
Must possess a Current BLS provider card required.
Must possess a Current Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC)
Must possess a NIMS I-700, I-800, I-100, I-200, I-300 and I-400 required.
Must possess a Certificate in wildland firefighting S-130 and S-190 required.
Must possess a Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card required, if applicable.
Must possess a Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) card required, if applicable.
Must possess certificate All Hazards Incident Management including position specific training in incident command, planning section, operations section.
Florida State Certification as a Paramedic desired.
**NOTE: If applicant does not possess Florida state certifications, they will have one year to obtain.
Salary Range $98,868.61 - $163,133.21 annually
