SALARY: $36,176.07 - $59,690.51 Annually

DESCRIPTION: Intermediate level technical work in connection with Civil engineering or design, perform in the office or field under general supervision of County Engineer.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Produces plans, profiles, cross-sections, construction details, etc. for highways, road, storm water management, traffic plans and other projects using AutoCAD. Reads and interprets survey plans and notes, plots and checks cross-sections, center lines and grades. Calculates horizontal and vertical curve data for low speed roadway design. Computes excavation and fill, percentage of grade and elevations. Transfers proposed grades to cross-section drawings. Prepares completed sketches and finished drawings. Prepares drawings of mechanic, electrical and structural systems, equipment, topographic and hydrographic surveys. Develops and maintain a system of departmental drawing standards for AutoCAD drawings. Participates in Countywide road inventory, traffic counts, speed studies, and related operations activities. Compiles data, manages and troubleshoots database, and produces reports. Produces prints from original or reproducible drawings using blueprint machine. Performs related work as required. High school diploma or equivalency, supplemented by drafting courses and surveying or engineering courses.
Minimum of 5 years experience in drafting and/or design utilizing AutoCAD.
Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and specifications.
Ability to access drawings and data points from various electronic storage locations.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of drafting (manual and AutoCAD), surveying or engineering.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Knowledge of methods, material and equipment common to street, sidewalk and drainage design/construction.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical Demand: Sedentary
10 lbs. maximum lifting.
Some lifting, carrying up to 10 lbs.
Some walking, standing may be required.
Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word or perceiving sound by ear.
Good eye sight for production or safety of self and others.
