On June 19th, the House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee passed a $44.1 billion appropriations bill that included a $1.4 billion reduction in funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. FY 2013 funding levels are currently $3.07 billion and the new proposed cuts would reduce the funding amount to $1.6 billion.

CONTACT YOUR HOUSE MEMBERS THAT SERVE ON THE HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE, especially those that are on the T-HUD appropriations subcommittee, and urge them not to make such a drastic cut to the CDBG program. Specifically, let them know what projects CDBG has funded in your county and/or how a certain project would not have been possible without CDBG. Ask them to consider offering an amendment to increase funding for CDBG during the full appropriations committee mark-up on June 27. Members of the House Appropriations Committee are listed below.
