THE POSITION: In this high-profile role, you will be responsible for a budget of $26M while exercising operational and administrative control over all divisions of the PZB Department. This includes coordination of internal activities of a 250+ employee department with six divisions, and external activities with other County departments, public, and private organizations. Your responsibilities will include:
• Working closely with elected officials and having significant interaction with the public, business and community groups
• Spokesperson for the County for its planning policies and actions at a local, regional and state level
• Directing the planning and implementation of demanding work programs within resource limitations to effectively and efficiently meet County goals/policies for the future development/redevelopment of the community at large
Minimum Requirements: BA/BS in Public Administration, Planning, Engineering, Architecture/related; 7 years of professional experience in planning/zoning functions or in a closely related management area, that includes 5+ years’ experience in progressively responsible professional administrative work. Preference for experience in: Local government, especially in State of Florida; working with elected officials; architecture and/or urban design; high density and mixed use development; managing multiple programs and activities; coordinating among multiple agencies and stakeholder interests.
