The SFWMD recently held a Regional Flood Mitigation Workshop, at which information was provided regarding loan and grant programs available to help local governments to implement mitigation projects.  Shortly thereafter, South Florida felt the impacts from Tropical Storm Isaac, and additional opportunities for Federal and State cooperation in improving local drainage.  To that end, the District is seeking input from local government officials in the 16-County region to compile a list of “construction-ready” flood mitigation projects to be presented to the Governing Board in advance of available funding sources.
