Suspension of benefits passes – on its way to Governor.
Suspending inmates Medicare/Medicaid benefits in lieu of terminating them was passed by the House and Senate and has been sent to the Governor for his signature. This bill (SB1456), strongly supported and lobbied by FAC and county lobbyists, would allow inmates who lose their Medicaid/Medicare benefits to immediately reestablish those benefits once they are released as opposed to having to wait 90 days for Medicaid/ Medicare to be re-activitated. The bill will save local governments millions of dollars and the bureaucratic nightmare of having citizens without Medicaid/Medicare. For more information, please contact Amanda Ghaffari.
