Criminal Justice Items in Governor's Proposed Budget for 2008-2009
The number of employees being proposed for the Civil and Criminal Regional Conflict Counsels (CCRCC) created from last year's SB 1088 has stayed the same throughout the state; however, the salary/ benefit amounts have gone up roughly 15-20%. Missing from each region's appropriations were two line items that included the one time appropriations to cover the cost for IT and facilities for the CCRCC. First was a line item for "Expenses" and second was an "Operating Capital Outlay". Last year the expenses and operating capital outlay line items were as follows: Region 1- Expenses $481,572 and Capital Outlay $140,400 Region 2- Expenses $455,117 and Capital Outlay $128,700 Region 3- Expenses $204, 282 and Capital Outlay $61,100 Region 4- Expenses $272,183 and Capital Outlay $81,900 Region 5-Expenses - $301,517 and Capital Outlay $87,100. As far as DJJ, the amount to cover the fiscally constrained counties went up slightly (good) and the overall amount they expect to collect from the nonfiscally constrained counties is actually slightly lower than this year at $104 million for the fiscal year.
