Wetlands Update
The House Environment and Natural Resources Council is currently conducting an interim project regarding wetlands regulation in Florida. As part of that project, House staff is surveying municipal and county governments regarding their wetlands programs. FAC recently distributed this survey to the counties, and will compile the results and provide them to staff in the House. A report will be issued which should address whether there is duplication in our current statewide system of regulation, as well as how the permitting process could be streamlined. There will be a discussion of the role of local programs in wetlands regulation. County surveys should be returned to Diana Ferguson, Senior Legislative Advocate, at dferguson@fl-counties.com, no later than August 31, 2007.
