Updates from the FL Department of Revenue
Over the past two weeks, DOR has made some significant announcements and a clarification was made on the maximum millage rates for 2007-2008. Thanks to all 67 counties reporting their 2001 and 2006 tax levy of information, DOR has set the final percentage rollbacks required under HB1B. In addition, DOR has announced that county revenue sharing will be down this year due to a reduction in the collection of the state sales tax. Finally it is important that all county governments understand that the allowed revenue increases in HB1B are based off of the 2007-2008 county budget, irregardless if a county does not choose to set the maximum millage rate.
