The FAC 2012 Legislative Day will be held Wednesday, February 1, at the FSU Turnbull Conference Center in Leon County. As a participant, you will get up-to-date information on legislative actions affecting county government.
The day will start with a Continental Breakfast at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Legislative Briefing at 9:00 by the FAC legislative team at the FSU Conference Center. After the briefing, you will have the afternoon to meet with legislators. Please schedule appointments with your Legislators prior to your arrival in Tallahassee. The day will conclude with a reception honoring the Florida Legislature at the Leon County Courthouse. Your participation will demonstrate to legislators our unity and the importance of FAC's Legislative Program.

CCC WORKSHOPS - EARN UP TO 13.5 HOURS
This year’s Legislative Day offers an incredible opportunity to earn up to 13.5 hours of credit toward the County Commissioner Certification (CCC) Program. By simply attending Legislative Day, you will earn 1.5 hours of continuing education credit. On Thursday and Friday, two core CCC Classes, Ethics and Growth Management, will be held at the Leon County Tourist Development Council located at 106 East Jefferson Street in Tallahassee. Each course is worth 6 hours of core credit. The Ethics course is mandatory to complete the CCC Certification.
The Ethics and Growth Management courses are NOT included in your Legislative Day registration fee. You will need to complete the registration forms included in this brochure or register online.
Ethics, Public Records and Sunshine Law (6 core hours)

This course is designed to give commissioners an understanding of Florida’s stringent laws. Participants will broaden their knowledge of ethics requirements for elected officials, understand the Sunshine Law and Public Records Law, learn about reporting requirements, and become familiar with the process of an ethics complaint.
Growth Management & Land Use Decisions (6 core hours)

This course is designed to give commissioners an understanding of the history of land use planning in Florida and how we got where we are today. Participants will learn the realities of implementing comprehensive plans including how amendments, development approvals, and exceptions should be handled.
