Each March during the height of the Legislative Session, FAC hosts our legislative day. Commissioners and staff are encouraged to come to Tallahassee to assist in the lobbying efforts to protect home rule and prevent unfunded mandates. The day begins with an update on what is happening with the legislative session and the afternoon is spent lobbying local delegations.
June 29-July 2, 2010
Marriott Tampa Waterside (Hillsborough County)
For the last 80 years, the Florida Association of Counties has held an annual conference. This is the FAC’s largest event each year and offers an opportunity for hundreds of commissioners and county staff from across the state to come together for continuing education and critical networking. In addition to the educational sessions, this event also includes a 100+ booth educational exhibition – with exhibitors from around the country sharing cost saving tools and products with counties.
In the fall FAC hosts our annual Policy and Legislative Conferences which are held to develop and then finalize FAC’s legislative policies for the upcoming session. The FAC Policy Conference is designed to bring to the forefront the many policy issues facing counties, debate and discuss new and old issues and narrow down the policies for a final vote before the end of the year.
December 2-4, 2009
Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront (Pinellas County)
The FAC Legislative Conference is the final opportunity for the membership and Legislative Policy Committees to meet and voice their opinion on the policies FAC lobbies during the legislative session. On the final day, commissioners vote and adopt the final FAC policies. Hotel and registration information will be available following our Policy Conference in September 2009.
