9/15/10	FAC hosts Economic Recovery Summit with Northwest Florida community leaders Today, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) hosted the Gulf Coast Economic Recovery Summit. The Summit brought together experts from across the state and region focusing on the state, federal and BP recovery process along with the many other regional issues involved in recovery.
6/23/10	Local officials meet with Coast Guard, BP and state officials to discuss oil spill response efforts Today, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) is hosting a meeting with United States Coast Guard Captain Steven Poulin and Commander Joe Boudrow, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Sole, Bryant Chapman, Vice President for BP, and commissioners, administrators and emergency directors from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Gulf, Franklin and Wakulla counties.
2/10/10	Memo: FAC Files Suit re: Impact Fees Today, the Florida Association of Counties, the Florida League of Cities, the Florida School Boards Association, and nine counties (Alachua, Collier, Lake, Lee, Levy, Nassau, Pasco, Sarasota, and St. Lucie) filed suit challenging HB 227 (2009) relating to impact fees, arguing that the bill is an unconstitutional unfunded mandate and that it violates the separation of powers provision of the state constitution.
1/20/10	Court rules against DJJ proving claim of counties -DJJ’s unfair billing practices returns $1.5 million to 20 counties- TALLAHASSEE: This month an Administrative Law Judge ruled against the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, validating what counties have been saying for years, DJJ erroneously shifts costs to counties. Each year counties are billed in advance for the costs of housing juveniles. At the end of each year DJJ is asked to submit to local governments the actual cost of housing those juveniles.
