OTC bill delayed in House

Friday, January 27, 2012 HB 1393 (Rep. Brodeur) and SB 1888 (Sen. Gardiner) dealing with the provision of a permanent tax exemption for online travel companies and similar businesses have been filed.

HB 1393 was scheduled to be heard on Thursday, January 26, 2012 by the House Finance and Tax committee but it was temporarily postponed shortly after being introduced. No vote was recorded.

SB 1888 has been referenced first to the Senate Commerce and Tourism committee, but has yet to be scheduled for a hearing.

FAC has adopted a policy statement opposing the preferential treatment of online travel companies or similar businesses and will continue to work to oppose this proposal.
