Organizational Leadership: Credibility Factors

A Leaders credibility has the greatest impact on whether or not others will choose to follow. During this workshop, you will learn that credibility is composed of five factors: competence, composure, courage, and care for people and . Effective leaders are rated highly across all five dimensions of credibility by their followers.  John Streitmatter, the Director at the Leadership Research Institute (LRI) will discuss the 5 C’s and how leaders are only effective to the extent that others choose to follow their lead. Credibility is largely a perceptual, audience-conferred phenomenon that is relatively uninfluenced by positional power. Perceptions of credibility are shaped by specific behaviors rather than personality traits. In addition to being the leader’s source of influence over others, individual credibility also affects communication climate, work environment, and productivity. This program will provide information on how to ensure you are sharing with your colleagues and constituents your most credible self. Commissioners will earn 3 elective CCC Credits for attending both part 1 and part 2 of the Leadership and Strategic Thinking Workshops in its entirety.

Workshop: Leadership and Strategic Thinking (Part 2):

Service Based Leadership

Building on the topic of credibility, this workshop will focus on one component which is Service Based Leadership. The secret of service-driven leadership is found in your purpose. What is the true meaning or purpose behind what you do? When your purpose and passions are clear so is your mission. John Streitmatter, the Director at the Leadership Research Institute (LRI) will discuss how this type of leadership begins with fundamental shifts in your attitudes and actions. This is characterized by making sure that your core values are clear to everyone that you work with and practiced with everyone else. The responsibility for service-based leadership rests with the leaders at the top.  Service-based leadership is deliberate, focused, and is crucial to your success. In order to get ahead you must be willing to serve. This program will focus on how you can use these principles in your community. Commissioners will earn 3 elective CCC Credits for attending both part 1 and part 2 of the Leadership and Strategic Thinking Workshops in its entirety.
