Pasco, Union, Baker and Calhoun counties have recently joined the National Association of Counties (NACo) making Florida a 100 percent membership state. This is a great advancement for Florida’s counties with us completely unified as a state association and now in our national association.

Following the July 2014 election of Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge as 2nd Vice President of the NACo Executive Committee, Florida is well positioned to expand advocacy efforts as well as develop and strengthen business opportunities on a national level. Having 100 percent membership earns Florida a third seat on the NACo Board of Directors.

As the third largest state in the nation, Florida’s needs should be well represented in Washington D.C. and the Florida Association of Counties has made federal advocacy a priority over the past three years. With all of Florida’s counties becoming active members of NACo, we can now address the nation in one unified voice.
