Collier hires 10 to speed up permitting process

NAPLES, Fla. - To keep up with booming growth in Collier County, commissioners beefed up their ranks Tuesday, hiring nine more building inspectors and a permitting coordinator. It marks the latest of several rounds of hires the county has made over the past two years to speed up the permitting process for new construction.  Building permits have jumped up about 20 percent in each of the last two years, said Jamie French, county director of operations and regulatory management.
