The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has given its final approval to a ban on the importation of lionfish into Florida.  This ban would impact those who deal in the invasive species for resale for the aquarium trade, and will take effect on August 1, 2014.  The Commission also approved spearing of lionfish and the use of rebreathers that will make it easier for divers to catch lionfish in Florida waters.   Those wanting lionfish for their aquariums would now be required to get the fish from Florida waters, helping the removal efforts and limiting the genetic diversity of the species
