Open to all Commissioners, County Staff and all Constitutional Officers
During the 2013 Legislative Session, the Florida legislature passed new ethics legislation requiring that Commissioners and Constitutional Officers take four hours of Ethics programming each calendar year. Since 1996, as part of FAC's Certified County Commissioner (CCC) Program, FAC has offered a comprehensive 6 hour mandatory Ethics, Public Records & Sunshine Law Course. Our existing course meets the requirements addressed in this new legislation. FAC's program includes expert speakers from the Attorney General's Office and the Florida Commission on Ethics to explain Florida's stringent laws. Participants will learn ethics requirements for elected officials, understand the Sunshine Law and Public Records Law, learn about reporting requirements, and become familiar with the process of an ethics complaint.
To ring in the new year, FAC is pleased to announce that we will be offering three Ethics workshops this year (in March, June and December). The first workshop will be held in conjunction with Legislative Day in Leon County on March 27, 2014 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. This workshop will have a separate registration fee of $125 that will cover lunch and all of the meeting materials. This class is open to all Commissioners, County Staff and all Constitutional Officers.
Mark your calendars, in addition to Ethics, registration for the other upcoming March 26-28th events are also open now: FAC’s Annual Legislative Day and 3 CCC workshops (Financial Management; Ethics, Public Records, and Sunshine Laws and Growth Management). The CCC Workshops are worth 6 CCC Core credits each, and Ethics is a mandatory workshop for all CCC participants. For more information and registration, click here.
