This week, the Florida Legislature gathered in Tallahassee for its first Interim Committee Week of the new year. Committees in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate met to discuss priority issues for the upcoming year.  FAC staff attended committee hearings ranging from criminal justice, ethics and elections and environmental preservation to healthcare and transportation and met individually with dozens of legislators, staff and state leaders to share our legislative priorities and advocate on the counties’ behalf for home rule.

Committee week continues into next week, and FAC will join the Florida League of Cities in appearing before the Senate Community Affairs Committee to present an overview of the Association, its responsibilities and the challenges facing local government, and to advocate for the counties’ 2013 legislative priorities.
